Buddhism
– Tales &
Teachings
with
Surya Academy Director Anil Persaud
Event Description
|
Surya Academy returns to the Pickering Central
Library with Buddhism – Tales & Teachings. Born as
a Prince destined to be King, Siddhartha Gautama
renounces his claim to the throne to go in search of
deeper and more personally meaningful truths. His
discoveries and teachings speak profoundly to the
human experience and have attracted proponents from
all walks of life over the past 2000 years.
What lessons did young Siddhartha have to teach a
royal court after an injured bird falls in the
palace gardens? What drove the Buddha-to-be to
abandon his wife and young child for a harsh forest
life? Who is Malynkyaputra and what important
lesson did he and his musical instrument hold for
the Buddha?
Find out the answer to these and more questions as
we celebrate Asian Heritage Month and Buddha Day
2008 with a tribute to the Buddha and his
teachings! |
